It’s marginally ridiculous that there is a National Rice Pudding day. I’m sure all you rice pudding aficionados are appalled by my lack of respect for rice pudding.
Chocolate pudding, delightful. Banana pudding, good not great. Vanilla pudding, acceptable. Rice pudding, not so much.
Rice pudding actually holds a random and dear place in my heart, although I’ve probably tasted it all of once in my life. It reminds me of my grandpa. (One of the finer gents I’ve known in my life.) He used to down this stuff like it was going out of style when I was growing up. (Little did he know it never was in style) He also used to consume tapioca pudding, which was equally as unpleasant to the palate. Also, as a result of my grandfather’s affinity for rice pudding, I have as a result associated rice pudding with a 70+ age bracket.
When you look at the definition you think, it isn’t that bad:
“Rice pudding is a dish made from rice mixed with water or milk and sometimes other ingredients. Different variants are used for either desserts or dinners.” - Wikipedia
Sounds delectable, right? Don’t be fooled.

Happy Nat’l Rice Pudding Day!
Don’t consume it’s namesake,
Brad
