“With All Due Respect” And Other Like phrases

When someone drops, “with all due respect” you’re bracing for the worst. You’re preparing for them to say something either ripping on you, something you did or something you believe in. It’s customary. (see Talledega Nights clip above).

Here’s a list of other “oh shit what are they going to say next” kind of phrases:

1) “I had a great time and I really think you’re a great guy…” - Specifically when it starts a message, text, email, etc.

2) “I really like where you’re going with this, but…” - Ever heard that at work?

3) “Not that you are wrong, but…” - They are telling you they think you are wrong.

4) “You did a fantastic job, I will take it from here because…” - Translation: “You’ve made a mess of this, I’m going to save your ass now.”

5) “I get where you’re coming from, but this is not exactly the vision I was going for. How about we…” - Translation: “You screwed up. Let’s work on redoing everything other than the Title.”
