I can be the first to admit it. I’ve tanked on posting and for that, I apologize. That being said, I will give the most cliche retort to this aforementioned “tanking”; I’ve been working hard at my job that pays me actual currency.
This is music to my coworkers ears. Not so much to those who actually enjoy reading this blog. (I’m looking at you mom)
In an effort to manage expectations here, I think I’m going to go for the weekly post from here on out and anything else will be icing on the cake. Is that a deal? Ok, you’re booing. I know, I apologize, but just trying to not bite off more than I can chew. (Which in real life, I actually do on a regular basis, in the dining department.)

So let’s jump off from this being a bum, tanking, lazy conversation.
You work hard, you get to chill, it’s your reward. The issue that creeps into play is when you can’t snap out of this relaxed state.
ie - Work hard for a few months straight. Take a 2 week trip. 2 week hangover at work from that trip.
We’ve all been there. How do you jolt yourself out of this post trip hangover?
I don’t think it’s safe to do it all at once. I think you have to make sure to do it in a slow process. Eassssse back into the swing of things, if you will.
I will respond to that one work email, take a little breather, go peruse Facebook. Why not even drop a comment and/or “like” a friend’s new friendship?
Now you go organize your workload. I’m old school, I go pen and pad. If you want to go sticky notes, type out on the word processor, I’m not a hater, go for whatever works for you.
Alright, time for another “20 second TO” (Timeout). Let’s go for a little stroll around the park, stop to smell the roses, go crazy and get a hoagie.
Now back to the office. You attend that meeting, listen and don’t add much, but you were physically there and you comprehended 75% of what went on. Give yourself a pat on the back.
Another break is necessary, go talk to that office crush. You deserve it. Since the day you started at your company, you’ve day dreamed/night dreamed about wining and dining this girl.
Alright that was fun, she laughed at one of your jokes. Now start crunching those numbers, you’ve been procrastinating long enough.
Now you’re pretty much back into the swing of things…sort of. Rinse and repeat for the next few days until you’re back and humming.

It’s a vicious cycle, but when you’re working hard and cranking reports, projects, spreadsheets, you’re in the zone. When you get out of said zone for too long, it’s not easy to get back rolling. But alas, until we win the Mega Millions or marry that Princess, it’s going to keep on happening.

There is easing back into it and then there’s just not doing anything…
Be good and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,
Brad
