Keeping it to Yourself

Some people haven’t a filter. They are few and far between though. Some people will say with pride, I have no filter. I will then speak with them for 15-20 minutes and they will say not one thing that I legitimately think could offend anyone. When you truly find a person who will speak their mind at all times, you’ve found a gem, a person who really just don’t care and a person that will provide you some great material for stories later.

(Insert story)

I was on the subway the other day and there was a Jewish man, not all together different from myself, other than the fact that he was extremely publicly awkward and wreaked of Manishewitz. (Ok, I kid about the second part, sort of) His counterpart, fiance (I guess), was a spunky Christian woman, who spoke a mile a minute. Actually, I’ll give her 2 miles a wind. A true whirlwind.

I was snooping a bit and listening in on their conversation. Amongst the all out onslaught this poor guy was enduring and just taking, she goes.

“You’re going to have to tell your friend and friends that this wedding isn’t happening in November. I’ve already told my family and friends.”

His response, “Ok.”

So it got me to thinking.

Does she really just not care at all that everyone in our immediate vicinity, who didn’t have their music blasting or wasn’t completely high, heard her conversation with her fiancee?

I guess some people are going to bring their private life/conversation into a public setting, no matter what. Good for her?

Then my thoughts moved to people who yell aggressively at each other making a scene in public. They are particularly annoying because of their complete disregard for everyone around them and the noise that they inherently create from the argument. Do they think that by yelling at each other in public some stranger is going to take their side and start yelling at their friend/acquaintance/significant other and as a result, win the argument by a score of 2 people to 1?

These humans who have no ability to keep anything to themselves and/or blatantly overshare with complete strangers, baffle me. Please enlighten.

I want to just tell the aforementioned people this…

Tubular Tuesday!
